Joanna Chen Jones - 10/24/2010 - 8/19/2012
Sunday morning, our precious baby, Joanna, went home to be with the Lord. Though we only knew her a short time, she blessed our lives with such joy. Please pray for our family, as we mourn her loss, but rejoice that she is now complete in Jesus.
Funeral Services for Joanna will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Trussville with visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Rev. Buddy Champion and Rev. Ernie Willis will officiate. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please support Lifeline Children's Services, 2104 Rocky Ridge Road, Birmingham, Al. 35216. All donations made in memory of Joanna will go to provide necessary surgical procedures to children in the orphanges they partner with. Please make checks payable to Lifeline Children's Services, and write 'In Memory of Joanna' in the notes section.

Someone wrote: "The death of a baby is like a stone cast into the stillness of a quiet pool;
the concentric ripples of despair sweep out in all directions,
affecting many, many people."
In a few short weeks petite Joanna affected "many, many people." Initially, her tragic and unexpected passing created a momentary sense of despair. However, for the believer in Jesus Christ, the despair soon is over-ridden by the knowledge our loss is her gain. Scripture reminds us "to be separated from the body is to be present with the Lord" - the same Lord who said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Sunday, August 19, 2012, the kingdom of heaven increased by one tiny soul.
Of a truth Joanna's earthly temple has been abandoned, but now she rests, and awaits the arrival of those who remain on this earthly plain. Awaiting a family reunion beyond our finite mind's ability to comprehend. The memory of Joanna's delightful smile will continue to send "ripples"- not of despair - but ripples of joy through our hearts until we meet again.

Though I knew her but for a moment, I loved her like I'd had known her a lifetime. I know I will see her one day and she will know who I am and run into my arms where I will embrace her for the first but certainly not the last time.
Love,
Uncle Daniel
